With the fast-pace of development and growth in both the Blockchain and Cryptocurrency sectors the public interest is exploding and there is a real demand to better understand the underlying technology. It was can be near impossible for anyone, let alone senior manager/executives to be aware of all the potential (good and bad) they can separately bring. Whether the purpose is identifying new partners for outsourcing, efficiencies in their internal processes, or tracking existential threats, those managers/executives need the foundation of knowledge on how Blockchain technology actually works. This course offers anyone in the public, including those managers/executives, that knowledge-base and potential opportunity to become the in-house resource on Blockchain technologies and their various use-cases/applications at their current employer/company.

Blockchain is expected to have a huge impact across many different industries, including financial services/banking, healthcare, defense, third-party logistics, retail and many other industries. While initially invented in 2008 as the technical backbone of the digital currency, Bitcoin, the application of this ground-breaking technology is far greater reaching. This course offers participants an opportunity to learn about Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies..

Overall Course Objective

The objective of this course is to provide a fundamental understanding of Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies. Starting from the very basics of what is a Blockchain to the exploration of diverse use-cases and applications becoming available.

This course is specifically designed for the general public. It would certainly be expected for both finance and non-finance senior managers/executives from a wide range of large established companies the need to better understand the quickly expanding Blockchain technology/applications to attend as well. Participants will takeaway a broad knowledge-base of the type of solutions Blockchain technology and related platforms/firms offer to both other business and consumers as well as how to identify those as partners and/or competitors.

Extra von NotHaus serves as the Chief Executive Officer of LD2, an asset-backed cryptocurrency. He also developed and taught the first graduate-level course on Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies for the DAmore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University, as well as a series of workshops on Blockchain for the Enterprise Forum at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Extra previously spent over five years as an management consultant for a $2.5T global banking conglomerate, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, where he worked across multiple businesses, including Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, and their US subsidiary, UnionBank. He lead numerous special projects and audits related to their wholly-owned international subsidiaries, corporate/enterprise risk strategies and internal M&A activities. Prior to that position, he was a founding team-member at five start-ups in consumer products/e-commerce and publishing, both as an entrepreneur and intrapreneur. He earned both a MBA in Investment Finance and a Masters of Science in Finance at Northeastern University and a Bachelors of Science in Physics from UCLA.
